Virginia S. Evans, 87 YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Virginia S. Evans, 87, who passed away Tuesday evening at Greenbriar Nursing Home. Virginia was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Youngstown, the daughter of Louis and Sally Marcinek Sudol. In 1942, she was recognized as the spelling bee champion for Penhale High School and graduated in 1946 from Campbell Memorial High School. Virginia was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish Polish National Catholic Church in New Castle, Pa., and also served as a former trustee of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church. She loved the Cleveland Indians and listening to polka music. Virginia leaves to cherish her memories, her nephew and niece, Mark and Juanita Kolmacic of Campbell, whom also served as her caregivers; her son, Gary Evans; and her daughter, Cheryl Evans. Virginia's husband, Edward P. Evans, whom she married July 26, 1947, passed away Oct. 20, 2002. Besides her husband, Edward, she was preceded in death by her parents. Virginia's family would like to thank the entire staff of Greenbriar Nursing Home for their wonderful care. The Evans family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
