Youngstown: Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, with Pastor Dave Watkins, officiating for Victor R. Mercado, 58 who passed away Saturday afternoon. Victor was born Feb. 2, 1953 in Youngstown, the son of Porfirio and Carmen Rodriguez Mercado and was a life long area resident. He was a 1972 graduate of East High School. Victor loved to walk or ride his bike in Mill Creek Park; he enjoyed fishing and playing cornhole and was also an avid fan of Penn State. He lived his life as a free spirit, with no worries, always laughing and joking. Victor will be extremely missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents; brothers, Ramon (Vicky), Fred (Colleen), Robert and Antonio (Nilsa); sisters Evelyn (Estefano) Laboy and Mary Cortez; 9 nieces and 10 nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Ramon Mercado-Planas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made. The Mercado family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Thursday from 11am to 1pm.
