Campbell: Funeral services will be held 10:00am Thursday in Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church for Sylvia Maillis, 78, who passed away early Monday morning. Sylvia was born on Jan. 23, 1933 in Pireaus, Greece the daughter of George and Anika Fotara Ginnis and came over from Greece at the age of 13 by boat, through Ellis Island. Sylvia was a lifetime member of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Campbell, she also belonged to the Philoptichos Society, the Symian Society and the Kalymnian Society. Sylvia was the happiest when helping with the church and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her brothers family. She will be greatly missed and cherished always by her children Louie (Elizabeth) Maillis, George (Susan) Maillis, Anna Samonas and Rena (David) VanSuch; a brother Phillip (Patty) Ginnis; she is also the proud YiaYia of Robert, Nick, Michael and George Maillis, Sylvia (Nick) Maillis, Eleni (John) Vanca, George (Megan), Nick, Jimmy and Louie Samonas, Christina, Sylvia, and Mary VanSuch and is also the Big YiaYia to Marisa Maillis and Luke and Alexi Vanca. She was also very close to her brothers children George (Tina) Ginnis, Drew (Julie) Ginnis and their children Taylor, Trisha, Phillip, Sarah, Phillip and Brooke. She also had numerous nieces and nephews on the Maillis side which she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Nick; a sister and a nephew Nick Ginnis. The Maillis family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-8pm at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church and on Thursday morning from 9:30-10am at Church.
