She was a 1994 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. Sylvia worked as an overnight support manager for Walmart in Salem for the past eight plus years. She was a member of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church. Sylvia will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She devoted all of her time to her most cherished gift, her daughter, Marisa. Sylvia always enjoyed spending life's precious moments with her daughter, and participating in girl scouts and school activities. She leaves to cherish her memories and will be sadly missed by her parents, George and Susan of Canfield, with whom she made her home; her daughter, Marisa, at home; her sister and brother-in-law, Eleni and John Vanca of Campbell; her brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Katie Maillis of Austintown; her nephew and niece, Luke and Alexi Vanca of Campbell; her maternal grandparents, James and Helen Vitus of Campbell; and many aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, friends, and a host of co-workers. Sylvia was a special person and a special friend to so many people. "She was like no other". She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nick and Sylvia Maillis; her maternal great-grandmother, Elvie Vitus; and her cousin, Nick Ginnis. The Maillis family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again from 9-10:00 a.m. Thursday morning at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.
