Steve Wallace, 67

Canfield…A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, for Steve Wallace, 67, who passed away Friday evening at his home surrounded by his family. Steve was born March 31, 1949, in Youngstown, the son of Steve Bona, Jr. and Phyllis Iacone Wallace.  He was a graduate of Boardman High School and a lifelong area resident. Steve enlisted in the Army in 1968 and was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany during Vietnam.   He retired from Allied Waste.  In his retirement, Steve enjoyed working around the house, helping his neighbors, volunteering at the Rescue Mission, and making piroghi's at St. Stanislaus. As a member of the Youngstown Ski Club, Steve was an accomplished skier.   He enjoyed his ski trips to Colorado and Vermont.   Steve liked to boar hunt, enjoyed shooting and was an avid tennis player.  He also enjoyed playing bocce at St. Anthony's. Above all, Steve's favorite time was when his house was filled with family and friends during the holidays and summers around the pool. Steve leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, the former Carol Lynn Skrobot, whom he married February 24, 1979; his daughter, Elizabeth (Ryan) Parillo; son, Ryan (Somer Breese); his sister, Sharon (Dick) Wade; his uncle, Mario (Delores) Iacone; sister-in-law, Jayne Reigrut; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins; and lifelong friends, Larry Ake, Gary Walters, David Williams, Jim Ischkum, and true friend John Rivera; and his constant companions Blue, Willow, Lily, and Shadow. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved step-father, Paul Wallace; his grandparents, Vincent and Valentina Iacone and Steve and Ollie Bona. The Wallace family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Monday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home on Market Street in Boardman, and again Tuesday morning from 10-11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church. The family would like to especially thank all of his family and friends who were so caring and supportive during his illness.  The family also expresses their thanks to the staff of Senior Independence Living / Hospice Care, the staff of Hope Center and his personal physician, Dr. Joseph Ambrose.
