Stephen C. "Big Steve" Matasic, 66

Campbell…Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Apostles Parish at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Church, officiated by Rev. Joseph Rudjak, for Stephen C. "Big Steve" Matasic, 66, who passed away Tuesday morning with his loving family at his side.

Stephen was born September 22, 1949, in Youngstown, the son of the late Stephen and Mary Pramuka Matasic.

Stephen attended Sts. Peter and Paul Parochial School in Youngstown.  He was a 1967 graduate of East High School on Youngstown's Eastside.  Stephen graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business.

Stephen worked from the age of 18-65 in the scrap metals business. He enjoyed music, cooking, walking his dogs at Mill Creek Park, fishing and spending time with his family.  Stephen was also very proud of his Croatian and Slovak heritage.

Stephen is survived by his three children, Stephen (Jennifer) Matasic, Michelle (Jonathan) Burnett, and Mark Matasic; four grandchildren, Sophia, Mikey, Berlin and Sebastian; his sister, Linda Vang of Fresno; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mary.

The Matasic family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Monday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
