Obituary

Campbell…Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church with Father Steve Denas officiating for Sophia Kantaras, 54, who passed away Tuesday evening with her family by her side. Sophia was born May 16, 1958, in Youngstown, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary Sculuca Kantaras. She was a 1977 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. Sophia was a member of the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church. She loved photography and won honorable mention in a photography magazine. Sophia loved football and especially enjoyed rooting for the Ohio teams, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She loved her pet parrot. She leaves to cherish her memory, her brothers, Gus Kantaras, with whom she made her home and Steven (Jeanie) Kantaras of Poland; her brother-in-law Thomas Gianakos of Warren; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and David, Brent, Amanda, Casey and Michael; and two great-nieces, Ella and Raelynn. Sophia was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Margo Gianakos. The Kantaras family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends on Friday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.
