Biography

Shirley "Jeannie" Jones Bicanovsky Campbell…A memorial service remembering the life of Jeannie will be held at 6pm on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Gospel Baptist Church, 6235 Clingan Rd., in Poland, with her cousin, the Rev. John G. Rogers, officiating. Jeannie ended her earthly journey on April 2, 2013 at the Hospice House after a lengthy illness. Jeannie was born March 14, 1943 in Steubenville, to the late Ralph and Margaret (Rogers) Jones. Jeannie grew up in Brownlee Woods and attended the Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church and was a 1961 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Prior to becoming a homemaker, she had worked at the Elmton in Struthers, Little Shopper in Poland, and was a route coordinator for C.C.S. Her hobbies included playing cards, going to bingo, doing word seek puzzles, and crocheting. She crocheted many blankets, sweaters and slippers for her eight children as well as blanket and sweater sets for other babies. She also enjoyed making Easter Candy for her children and grandchildren. Jeannie married Andrew P. Bicanovsky, Sr. on June 26, 1965 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2008. Jeannie left behind to cherish her memory, her son, Andrew P. Bicanovsky, Jr. of Florida; six daughters, Theresa Young of Minnesota, Patricia Stilson of Youngstown, Val, Andrea and Rebecca all of Campbell, and Lucinda of New York; along with 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Paul) Cochenaur of Naples, Florida; and dear friends, Ronald and Councilwoman Juanita Rich of Campbell. Besides her parents and her husband, Jeannie was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela L. Bicanovsky; and two infant granddaughters, Rebecca Stilson and Jessica Vaughn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jeannie's name to Lighting the Way Foundation at P.O. Box 5093, Poland, Ohio 44514, to help local underprivileged children in need. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6pm Friday at the church. Jeannie's family has entrusted the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.
