Ronald J. Garchar, 58 POLAND – Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of God in New Springfield, with Pastor Jonathan Holloway officiating, for Ronald J. Garchar, 58, who passed away at his home Monday. He was born Jan. 7, 1957, in Youngstown, the son of Andrew and Margaret Grischik Garchar. He was a 1975 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. Ronald worked as a crane-man and as a welder foreman for Telecom in Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Church of God in New Springfield and served as a former volunteer fireman for the New Springfield Fire Department. Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most importantly, Ron was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who treasured the time he spent with his children and playing with his grandchildren. His memories will be cherished by his wife, the former Terri Lonardo, whom he married Nov. 13, 1976; his mom, Margaret; his children, Mary Garchar (fiancé Eric) and Andrew Garchar of New Springfield; his grandsons, Montana, Broc and Andrew Jr.; brothers and sister, Gary (Monet) Garchar of California, Charlotte Luc of Campbell, and Joe (Eva) Garchar of Cincinnati; his sister-in-law, Jane Garchar of Coitsville; and 18 nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Andrew; his brother, Michael; sister Andrea Garchar; and his brother-in-law, John Luc. Ron's family wishes to thank the church, family, friends and co-workers for all of their love and support during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ron's name to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 2, 1684 Lancaster Drive, Youngstown, OH 44511, Ohio Valley Teen Challenge 1319 Florencedale Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505, or Hospice of the Valley, Columbiana Office, 1120 Village Plaza, Columbiana, OH 44408. The Garchar family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
