Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN – A memorial gathering of friends for Robert Gerold "Stymie" Stanar, 66, who passed away October 5, 2013, will be held on November 8, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home. Masonic services will be provided at 6:00 p.m. by the Masons Western Star Lodge No. 0021 Robert was born May 24, 1947 and was the son of George Rudolph and Ann (Richko) Stanar. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Robert was a skilled bowler and was asked to join the Pro Bowling League. But he decided to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masons Western Star Lodge No. 0021 in Boardman. He had many interests in life and was described as a "free spirit". Stymie was an avid Harley rider and was well known by the biker community. Robert belonged to the VFW post in Austintown. Robert was preceded in death by both his parents. He leaves to cherish his memories, his children; Robert Scott Stanar, Michael (Cindy) Van Fossan of Atlanta, Aimee (Tim) Johnson also of Atlanta, and Jana Van Fossan of Alabama.
