Rigas (Roy) Mantas, 81 Campbell…Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Steve Denas officiating, for Rigas (Roy) Mantas, 81, who passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 surrounded by his family. Rigas was born June 25, 1933 in Warren, a son of Sotirios and Theodora Manolopaula Mantas. He was a 1951 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, and served as a tech sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from July, 1953 – January, 1954. He was a block operator at B & O Railroad, then worked as a boiler engineer at Van Huffle Tube, and later retired from St. Joseph Riverside Hospital. He was also a reserve deputy sheriff for Mahoning County. His family will always remember the time they spent camping, fishing, boating and playing or watching sports. He loved to golf and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He coached Campbell Little League for years, served as the manager and was later President for the organization. He was a member of the church, the NRA, the American Legion, and the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association. He was preceded in death by his wife Ameila, whom he married on August 18, 1957, his twin sister Olga, and his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Terrie (Mike) Vodhannel of Canfield; his son, Sam (Judy) Mantas of Hubbard; his grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Vodhannel and Josh Vodhannel; his great-grandchildren Sloan Marie and Jason Michael Vodhannel, all of Canfield; his nieces, Jennice and Kimberly; and three nephews, Alex, Steve and Keith. He will also be missed by his faithful companion, Lacey, and many long time friends. The Mantas family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Sunday from 2-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. in Church. There will be military honors performed at the cemetery following the church service.
