Raymond (Moe) Maruskin, 80
Campbell…Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Michael Swierz, for Raymond "Moe" Maruskin, 80, who passed away to be with the Lord at Park Vista Rehab Center on January 22nd.
Ray was born April 16, 1934, in Campbell, the son of Frank Sr. and Mary (Grisa) Maruskin.
He was a 1953 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, where he a member of the football team. Moe lived in Campbell his entire life.
In 1954, he joined the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1956.
He worked at Youngstown Welding and Engineering for 10 years and later retired from G.M., Lordstown in 1995 after 30 years of service.
Ray was a member of the church, where he was an altar boy, a member of the choir, and a past trustee.
Ray loved working in his garden, going to flea markets, garage sales, car shows to see the classic cars of the 1950's, and collecting die cast cars.
He was a spiritual man and his faith was important to him. He enjoyed watching the rosary and daily Mass on television, singing praise songs to the Lord, reading the Bible and other spiritual books and articles daily. Ray was involved in Christ Renewals in his parish and the Coursillo Movement.
Ray loved going to and watching football games, especially his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
He enjoyed traveling.
He leaves to cherish his memories and will be missed terribly by his wife and family, the former Joanne Towarnicky, whom he married June 17, 1961; his son, Bob of Hubbard; grandchildren, Bobby of Hubbard and Jordan of Pickerington; his sister, Ethel Cooper of Avon Lake; his nieces and nephews, Sandy (Dale) Del Monte, Mary Francis Cooper, Craig (Dottie) Cooper, Ken (Pam) Maruskin, Jerry (Julie) Maruskin, Rick (Donna) Lipinski, Ron (Melina) Lipinski, Tom (Laura) Lipinski, Rita (John) Gravis and many other great nieces and great nephews; his sister-in-law, Marian Lipinski of Boardman and his brother-in-law, Walter Towarnicky of Youngstown.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jeff, who passed away in 2008; and his brother, Frank.
The Maruskin family would like to thank all who took care of Ray during his stay at Park Vista. "God Bless all of you"!
The Maruskin family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Sunday afternoon from 2-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
