Norman
Mamajek
Jun 29, 1941 — Aug 4, 2015
Norman R. Mamajek, 74 Campbell…Private family services were held Wednesday with the Rev. Michael Swierz officiating for Norman R. Mamajek, 74, who passed away peacefully on August 4, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Norman was born on June 29, 1941, in Youngstown, the son of Leonard and Pauline Duca Mamajek. After graduating from East High School in 1959, he began working at Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation. He worked at the Youngstown, Niles and Cleveland plants from which he retired in 1997. Norm enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1960 and served six months active duty. He was honorably discharged on July 25, 1967. Norm enjoyed old cars and was a long-time member of the Ford V-8 Club of America. Everyone who knew Norm, or just talked to him for a brief minute knew how strongly he felt about ONLY buying "Made In U.S.A." products. He lived true to his convictions and always bought American-made products, no matter the cost or inconvenience. Norm was a loving son, brother and uncle who respected and cherished his family. He took great pride in sharing family memories with anyone who would listen. Norm leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Rosemarie DeAngelo and nephew, Thomas DeAngelo of Campbell, Ohio, cousins Norm Willey (Las Vegas, NV) Cathy (Al) Lind (Poland, OH), and Stella Mamajek (Poland, OH). Norm was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Lenny. Norm told his family he didn't want anyone to give up doing something fun to attend his calling hours. To respect his wishes, there will be no calling hours. With the help of a dear friend, Claire Taylor, and Hospice of the Valley, Norm was able to live out his final days in the comfort of his sister's home. For this we will be eternally grateful. Memorial contributions in Norm's name may be made to, Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512 or Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406 Norm is with others who love him. He has found peace and comfort. God will hold him close and keep him forever in eternal salvation. The Mamajek family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home.
