Norbert was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Youngstown, the son of John Sr. and Anna Kish Krajnak.
He was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Born and raised in Lansingville, on Youngstown's south side, he moved to Campbell in 1949, after marrying his wife, Betty.
Norbert worked as a machinist at Republic Steel, retiring in 1986, after 42 years of service. He also served as the union shop steward as a member of the AFL-CIO.
He was a member of the former St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He was a member of the Greek Catholic Union, the Campbell Golf League, USW, No. 1330 and the Campbell Bowling League.
Norbert was an avid golfer and bowler, participating in many leagues over the years. He also loved fishing and was a proud boat owner for many years. More than anything, he loved and doted over his daughter, Noreen, and grandchildren Jordan R. and Lauren E. Dentscheff.
A true scratch golfer, he had at least three holes-in-one. He shot his age the first time at age 69, and the last time at age 82, and multiple times in between.
His wife, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Hamrock, whom he met at a dance at the Idora Park Ballroom in 1948, and married on Sept. 3, 1949, passed away Saturday, March 7, nine days after him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and Jordan "Dan" Dentscheff of Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Jordan P. and Lauren E. Dentscheff of Las Vegas; and a sister, Eleanor Tesner of Campbell.
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Norma Jean; a sister, Elizabeth Kraynak; a brother, John Kraynak; sister-in-law Mary Ann (Beck) Kraynak; and his brother-in-law, John "Doc" Tesner.
The Krajnak family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Family Home Hospice in Norbert's name.
