Michael R. Vodhanel, 89
Youngstown…Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Michael R. Vodhanel, 89, who passed away Sunday morning in his home.
Michael was born October 12, 1925, in Campbell, the son of Michael and Mary Halaj Vodhanel.
He was a proud WWII Combat Veteran, serving in the US Army from 1944-1946.
He was self-employed bricklayer and general contractor.
Michael was a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 93.
He was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Karen Henning of Austintown; his four sons, Michael (Linda) Vodhanel of California, Ron Vodhanel of Austintown, David (Janette) Vodhanel of Canfield and Tom Vodhanel of Austintown; eleven grandchildren, Jim, Andrea, Joe, David Michael, Denise, Michael, Jennifer, David Andrew, Megan, Shauna, and Danny; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Lofaro of Boardman; and his uncle Edward Vodhanel of Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Petrilli; his former wife, Valerie Vodhanel; his parents; a sister, Ann Lovati, with whom he had a special bond; and two brothers, John and Steve Vodhanel.
The Vodhanel family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Thursday from 11-12:00 p.m. prior to the 12:00 p.m. funeral service. Military honors will follow the service.
