Obituary

Campbell: Funeral services will be held 10am Friday at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church for Michael N. Vavlas, 75 who passed away Saturday evening at the Hospice House. Mike was born June 9, 1936 in Campbell the son of Nicholas and Maria Koufos Vavlas and was a life long area resident. He was a 1954 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany twice. He was a member of the church; OAPSE Local #141; a devoted member of the Campbell Gridiron Club and was an inductee in the Campbell Memorial Hall of Fame. Mike was the proprietor of Mikes Place Famous Hot Dogs in Campbell and also worked at Republic Rubber Aeroquip and retired after 35 years from the Campbell City Schools as a Custodian. His wife the former Norma Jean Mazerick whom he married July 16, 1960 passed away June 30, 1999. Mike will be greatly missed and his memory forever cherished by his children Linda (Mike) Masajlo and their children Macy, Malory and Max of Pleasanton, CA., Nicholas (Maureen) Vavlas and their children Michael and Alex of San Jose, CA. and Michael Vavlas of Campbell; one sister Julia Kelades of Campbell and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma; a daughter Marianne and siblings Callie Vavlas and Stephen ââ?¬Å?Stephie쳌 Vavlas. The family would like to send many thanks to the staff at Keystone Rehab and the Hospice House. The Vavlas family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home where there will be a 5:30pm prayer service and on Friday morning from 9:30-10am at church.
