Michael Kraynak, 89 ALLENDALE, N.J. - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, for Michael Kraynak, 89, formerly of Austintown, who passed away Sunday afternoon. Michael was born March 25, 1926, in Youngstown, the son of Michael and Anna Orincak Kraynak. He was U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving our country from 1944 to 1946. Michael went on to work as a supervisor at Loblaws and later retired as a millwright from Republic Steel. He was an active member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. Michael also served as a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Greek Catholic Union and the St. Nicholas Church Group. Michael's wife, the former Helen Uhlar, whom he married Nov. 4, 1961, passed away May 10, 1999. He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Michele (John) Pesanello of Mahwah, N.J.; his son, Christopher (Amy) Kraynak of Burns Harbor, Ind.; his siblings, Helen Kraynak, Edward Kraynak, Fr. Nicholas Kraynak, William Kraynak and Emil Kraynak, all of Youngstown, and his sister, Mary Whitacre of Salem; and his six grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Kraynak of Atlanta, David Kraynak of Kalamazoo, Mich., PFC Thomas Kraynak of Camp Lejune, N.C., and John Michael, Laura, and Nicholas Pesanello of Mahwah. Besides his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his brothers, Andrew and John Kraynak; and his sisters, Marge and Ann Kraynak. In lieu of flowers and should friends desire, monetary donations can be made to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 1898 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44506 or The American Cancer Society in Michael's honor. The Kraynak family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Thursday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
