Melvin Dewynn Daugherty, 72 Canfield...Funeral services will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jim Barton, for Melvin Dewynn Daugherty, 72, who passed away early Monday morning at Hospice House. Melvin was born August 5, 1941, in Royal, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas and Dorothy Miller Daugherty. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1957-1958. Melvin was an area resident from 1959-2003, moving to Panama Beach, Florida in 2003. Melvin returned back to the area in 2013. Melvin later worked as an auto mechanic for Baglier Ford and Crown Ford. He was a member of Rush Church in Canfield. Melvin was active in the "Hog Harley Owners Group", and area golf and bowling leagues. He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Douglas Daugherty of Panama City Beach, Fla, Tammy Daugherty of Canfield and Lisa Marchionda of Youngstown; his sisters, Connie Daugherty and Dorothy Daugherty, both of Chestnut Ridge, Pa., and Gloria Sommer of Horsehead, New York; his brother, James Daugherty of Weymouth, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Melvin's wife, the former Sally Ann Davis, whom he married August 30, 1959, passed away June 18, 2008. Besides his wife, Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Thomas, Donald, and Robert Daugherty. The Daugherty family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Friday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
