Maryann Tkach, 88 Canfield…Prayers will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christine Catholic Church with Father Christopher Cicero officiating, for Maryann Tkach, 88, who passed away Saturday afternoon at Humility House in Austintown. Maryann was born February 28, 1925, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Anastasia Vogrin Liktar. She was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and later went on to earn a Bachelor Degree in Education from Kent State University. Maryann was a lifelong area resident. She was a teacher at Youngstown's Jackson Elementary School in Brownlee Woods. Maryann was a founding member of St. Christine's Catholic Church and was active with the church's Altar and Rosary Society as well as the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild. She was a longtime volunteer at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center and was a member of the Canfield AARP Group. Maryann enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. She leaves to cherish her memories her two daughters, Barbara (Patrick) Moulin of Maumee, Oh., and Judy Tkach-Spagnola of Canfield; her four grandchildren, Marla (Steve) Jensen of Seattle, Julie (Jonathan) Olack of Shaker Heights, Oh., Kristin (Jason) Fisher of Worthington, Oh., and Patrick "Mike" (Randee) Moulin of Atlanta; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret (Steve) Hudak of Youngstown. Maryann's husband, Michael A. Tkach whom she married August 24, 1946, passed away November 2, 1999. Besides her husband, Michael, Maryann was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Caroline Timmins. The Tkach family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Thursday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Tkach family would like to thank the entire staff of the Humility House for the excellent care their mother received.
