An hour of calling with be held from 9:00 AM to 9:50 AM following immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church with Monsignor Peter Polando celebrating for Mary Ann Hamracek, 81, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
Mary Ann was born October 22, 1934 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Mary Bandzura Hamracek.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and had her first job out of high school with Steel City Chevrolet. She then started working for Dollar Bank in 1961 starting as a personal loan officer and commercial teller in the branch downtown until she moved into a management position for Dollar Bank Parkade. She retired from the bank in 1996 after 35 years of service.
She was a parishioner of St. Matthias Church. She was a charter member of the Sokol Center and belonged to the American Business Women's Association Tri-County Chapter. Mary Ann was a member of the Woman's International Bowling Congress, and bowled for the Slovak Catholic Sokol and the First Catholic Slovak Union. She also loved to golf and play bocce.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her sister, Dolores (Andrew) Kolar of Boardman, a sister-in-law, Judith Hamracek of Hubbard, her nieces and nephew, Michael (Leslie) Hamracek, Jill (Joseph) Rushwin, and Lynn (Chuck) Ogden, and her great nieces and nephews, Ryan, Cory, Charlie, Sydney, and Abby.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Hamracek.
The family has entrusted Mary Ann's care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, where they will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2016.
Mary Ann's family would like thank Dr. Robert Spratt and office, Southern Hospice, and Sunrise Assisted Living for their compassionate care of Mary Ann in her times of need.
The family requests that material contributions be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406 in honor of her love of animals.
