Mary Halus, 84

Campbell………Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church for Mary Halus, 84, who passed away Friday, March 4th in Assumption Village Nursing Home. Mary was born Nov. 22, 1931 in Farrell, Pa., the daughter of Lawrence and Mary Battyani Gargano. She was a 1949 graduate of Farrell High School, and worked at United National Gas Company as a bookkeeper; and Sharon General and Northside Hospitals as a ward clerk. She was a member of the church; the Sacred Heart Society, Altar and Rosary Society, Byzantine Senior Citizens Club and the Ladies Association of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. She was involved in many church activities including making pierogies, fish fries, bingo and many other church functions. Besides being a homemaker, Mary enjoyed working crossword puzzles, baking and loved animals. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Edward Halus, whom she married Nov. 13, 1954; a daughter, Sheryl Goodrich of Poland; and a sister, Antoinette Clark of West Middlesex, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Fr. Robert Halus; sisters, Jennie Mott and Rosemary Mook; and a brother, Bill Gargano. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Mary's name. The Halus family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends on Thursday morning from 10am to 11am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
