YOUNGSTOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, at St. Dominic's Church to celebrate the life of Mary Ann Cerepak, 87, who passed away peacefully with her son and daughter by her side, on Wednesday, July 28.
She was born on May 26, 1929, in Gary Indiana, the daughter of Nellie (Williams) and Michael Pavlick.
Mary Ann moved to Youngstown as a child and graduated from South High School in 1948. She married the love of her life, John Cerepak, in 1949 at St. Joseph's Church where they were active parishioners until the church moved to Austintown in 1967.
She was a homemaker and worked part time at Strouss Department Store downtown. Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, decorating and was always impeccably dressed, but most of all she loved being with her family and friends.
She belonged to the same card club that was established in the early 1950's, playing 500 at their monthly meeting as recently as June.
She leaves, to cherish her memory, her daughter, Nancy (Marc) Flinn of Poland, her son John (Cynthia) Cerepak of Mentor, grandsons, Sean Bailey of Columbus, Scott (Kelly) Bailey of Upper Arlington, Casey (Lyndsey) Cerepak of Twinsburg and granddaughter, Carly (Patrick) Graves of Upper Arlington, step-grandsons Brian (Sheri) Flinn of Fairless Hills, PA, Kevin Flinn of Youngstown, Jeff Karp of Spokane, WA and step-granddaughters, Carly Oberlin of Perry, Dana Karp of Painesville, four great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Irene Lancy of Austintown.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John who died in 2000. Her parents, her brothers Robert and William and an infant sister, Virginia.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m., Tuesday, prior to the Mass at St. Dominic's.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
