DeMart, 94, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 6, in Pearland, Texas. She will be interred at St. John?¢s Cemetery following the Mass.
Marguerite spent her life bringing joy to both children and adults through her various music contributions over the years. A degreed music educator with both a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music, Marguerite spanned the music education universe ?? from grade school general music classes to high school marching bands and choral groups to arranging the very popular children?¢s concerts with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. Along with her long time teaching within the Struthers School system, she was also a member of the music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI), Music Teachers National Association, and the St. Lucy Church Choir and Alter and Rosary Society in Campbell. She also gave private music lessons to countless students.
Born Aug. 18, 1918, in Pittsburg, Kan., Marguerite Wilbert met her future husband. Rocco DeMart. while both were heads of their respective high school bands in Pittsburg, Kan. Married in August of 1954, Marguerite settled in Campbell in the mid-sixties with Rocco and their three children, Robert, Margaret, and Jean, who all attended Campbell city schools.
Marguerite retired from teaching in 1983 and became a member of both the Mahoning Valley Retired Teachers Association and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
Marguerite loved to travel within the United States and to Europe and South America and believed that traveling added a cultural dimension one cannot get from reading about a place in a book or magazine. An adventurous type that belied the sweet demeanor she was known for, Marguerite was able to ride just about every conveyance she could, from jet-skiing on Lake Powell in Utah to driving go-karts at various venues to riding a donkey and a hovercraft in Greece and riding aerial tramways in the European Alps and Brazil.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, Rocco in 1993; her sister, Anna Marie (Wilbert) Kuhns of Dallas, Texas; and brothers Edwin Wilbert of Red Bank, N.J. and Julius Wilbert of Pittsburg, Kan.
She leaves to cherish her three children, Robert of Reston, Va., Margaret of Pearland, and Jean of Santa Clarita, Calif.; along with five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The DeMart family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
