DECATUR, AL – Calling hours will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church celebrated by Fr. Martin Celuch, for Margaret Christine Kraykovich, who passed away February 13, 2015 after a brief illness associated with cancer. Margaret was born May 6, 1929 in Campbell, a daughter of Valent John and Anna Ferenchak Streber. She lived in New Middletown until she moved to Decatur, Alabama in 2005. Margaret worked for both Strouss' Department Store and within the New Springfield Public School System. She was a former member of St. Matthias Church and St. Paul's Catholic Church, and became a member of Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur, Alabama after she moved. She was a member of the Mahoning County Democrat Club and a past President of St. Paul's Catholic Church Altar Society in 1957. She enjoyed crocheting for all her family members, traveling to Czechoslovakia, making pierogis for St. Paul's Catholic Church, playing cards at her favorite Senior Centers in Decatur, and watching the Browns, Ohio State, and Notre Dame, her favorite football teams. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughters, Suzanne (Bill) Sedlak Wiley of Decatur, Alabama and Sandra (David) Sedlak Valensi of St. Joseph, MI; her grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Valensi Snyder of Boston, MA and David John Valensi of Indianapolis, IN; and a sister, Minnie (John) Streber Vasil of Hermitage, PA. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Sedlak whom she married January 25, 1947 and who passed away in 1971, her second husband, George Anthony Kraykovich, whom she married August 3, 1975 and who passed away in 2004, and a sister, Pauline Streber Froble. The family has entrusted Margaret's care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
