Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at noon at St. Anthony of Padua Church, with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Phyllis "Midge" LaRubbio, 95, who passed away at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center on Sunday, July 10. She was born June 22, 1921, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Louise Patrone and Ralph Pallante. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Youngstown and a member of the church's Altar and Rosary Society. Midge found joy in traveling abroad to many different and interesting places with her loving husband and her group of friends, referred to as the "gang." She loved babysitting her grandchildren, almost as much as her grandchildren loved it when she babysat them. Midge was an exceptional cook and baker. She was thrilled when the parish priest asked her to prepare her "famous" baked eggplant and coconut cream pie for the Bishop and the clergy when they visited the church. Midge also volunteered at St. Anthony's School cafeteria for many years. She loved playing bingo and trips to the casino. Midge is survived by her children, Jo Manos (Stu Banks), Frosty Pascarella and Fran (Mike) Timlin; her daughter-in-law, Ruth LaRubbio; her grandchildren, Frank and Anthony LaRubbio, Phyllis Winterburn, Christine Dayton, Gino Pascarella, Maggie and Michael Timlin; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Kelly Katcher; brother-in-law Anthony LaRubbio of Youngstown; and sister-in-law Ange LaRubbio of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank LaRubbio, who passed away in 2007; her son, Morris LaRubbio; grandson Christopher Manos; granddaughter Gina Pascarella; brothers Ralph and Andrew Pallante; and her sister, Jane Wojtowicz. Midge's daughters would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the staff of Masternick Memorial Health Care Center for the special attention and care given to Midge over the last few years. The LaRubbio family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Church.
