A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Lake Park Cemetery for Emma Evangelist, 92, who passed away peacefully on May 4, 2016.
Emma was born October 15, 1923 in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Barbara Podrebarac and Martin Krpicak.
Emma was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1942. During the war, she worked at McKenzie Manufacturing and also for General Electric for 5 years before becoming a homemaker for her family. Emma was the primary caretaker for her son, Gregg for most of his life. She attended mass at St. Dominic Parish.
She enjoyed to read, listen to the radio, and used to play baseball. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, and also cheered locally for the YSU Penguins.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her sons, Victor Evangelist of Salem and Gregg Evangelist of Youngstown, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor C. Evangelist, whom she married September 14, 1946 and who passed March 24, 1997, her brothers, Louis, George, Michael, Joseph, John, and Frank Krpicak, her sisters, Katherine Krpicak, Mary Carkido, Ann Delon, and Ruth Parent.
The family has entrusted Emma's care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home.
