Julia Gulas, 90

Boardman…Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, with Rev. Greg Maturi officiating, for Julia Gulas, who passed away Saturday evening.

Julia was born February 16, 1926, in Campbell, the daughter of Alexander and Cecilia Wojtanoska Smalleck.

She was a 1943 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.

Julia retired from the Laundry Department at Northside Hospital after 30 years of service, where she served as a Union Steward.

Besides working at Northside Hospital, Julia was a homemaker.  She loved to cook and bake and always found time for friends to come to her home.  She always made room for one more.  Julia was a very caring woman and was very proud of her son and granddaughters.

Her husband, George Gulas, whom she married on January 16, 1950, passed away July 14, 1989.

Julia will always be loved and cherished by her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Michele Gulas of Boardman; her two granddaughters, Meghan and Brian Perry of Boardman, and Heather Gulas of Boardman; and her sister, Sophie Schiavoni, of Boardman.

Besides her parents and her husband, George, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Michael Scrip; her two sisters, Anna Evanski and Kaye Coss; and her brothers, Michael and Alex Smalleck.

The family would also like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff at Masternick Nursing Home during her rehabilitation stay and to caregiver, Lisa Balog, for her caring and loving ways.

The Gulas family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Thursday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again Friday morning from 9-10:00 a.m., prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service.
