Obituary

BOARDMAN – An hour of calling will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 23, 2015 followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Neroda officiating for Mary S. Romanko, 89, who passed away on July 19, 2015. She was born April 28, 1926 in Johnstown , PA, a daughter of the late John and Mary Chromc Dubec, and was a lifetime area resident. Mary attended floral design school, working for Hazel Krichbaum Florist and then Harris Florist Shop. She married Joseph C. Romanko Sr. and together they more than 50 wonderful years. Mary was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society for Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic War Vets Ladies Auxillary and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Jednota Branch #30. She also enjoyed making pierogies at St. Stanislaus and Holy Trinity Churches. She loved to paint ceramics and made great apple pies and stuffed cabbage, but nothing compared to her kolachi. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Janet (Ronald A.) Davis of Boardman, her son Joe (Sandra) Romanko of Poland; her grandchildren Patrick Davis, Melissa (Brian) Genhart, Alex Romanko and Emma Romanko, her two great grandchildren Katelynn and Allen; her sister Francis Chaszeyka, her brother John Dubec and her brother in law Metro Romanko with whom she shared her home. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Joseph, her sister Irene Kuderca, and an infant grandson Ronald. The Romanko family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that a memorial contribution be made to the charity of your choice in Mary's name.
