Obituary

CAMPBELL – Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Campbell for Josephine Lombard, 87, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 5. Josephine was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter Julia Nolfi Palusak and Gino Giammarco. She was a 1945 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. Besides being a dedicated wife and mother, Josephine was an Elevator Operator at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She also worked at Hill's Dept. Store in the Lincoln Knolls Plaza and was an Avon Representative for over 30 years. She enjoyed cooking and canning vegetables from her husband's garden and spending time with her family and friends. Josephine was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and its Infant Jesus of Prague Guild. She was a captain for the American Cancer Society, and was a volunteer for the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. She was also a member of the "Happy Go Lucky Prime Timers" and the Youngstown Mother of Twins Club. Most recently at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Nursing Home, Josephine enjoyed all of the activities and staff, especially singing and listening to music. She will be missed for her mischievous smile and quick wit which kept the staff amused. The West Wing will never be the same. Her husband, Frank J. Lombard, whom she married, July 28, 1949, passed away March 4, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, David (Crystal) of Florida, Roberta (Dominic) Chiera of Poland, Marilyn (Bob) Suchy of Mercer, Kristine Murphy of Poland, and Christopher (Kristie) of Cortland; seven grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Lombard, Dominic Chiera, Dr. Nicholas (Dr. Sheetal) Chiera, Andrew and Rachel Irizarry and Jamiee Lombard; three great-grandchildren, Dominic Chiera and Navin and Shaylan Chiera; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Richard Laliberte; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Ann Palusak; many nieces and nephews; and a long time friend since childhood, Alice Chiera. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Nursing Home in Columbiana for their loving and compassionate care of Josephine. The Lombard family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:45 p.m.
