Obituary

BOARDMAN– A decade of the rosary will be observed by the Knights of Columbus Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Monsignor Peter M. Polando and concelebrated by Father John Keenher at St. Columba Cathedral for Kenneth T. Tabaka, 64 who went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning. Kenneth was born on August 30, 1949 and was the son of Theodore and Helen Byrdy Tabaka Sr. He was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School in 1967 where he played basketball and still holds two rebounding records. He was awarded a basketball scholarship to St. Francis College in Pennsylvania from which he graduated in 1971. Kenneth was a sales representative for Dr. Pepper-Snapple Company, formerly 7-Up where he retired after 37 years. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus where he was a 3rd degree member of Fr. VenGlarik council 11915 as well as a 4th degree member of Msgr. Lettau Assembly 2596. Kenny also volunteered his time for St. Vincent D Paul Society Youngstown Pantry, the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the Cardinal Mooney Hall of Fame. He also played on various Steel Valley League softball teams. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories, his sisters; Diane Thake and Nancy (Jeffrey) Henderson, both of Dublin, Ohio; nephews, Christopher Thake of Dublin; and Michael (Julie) Thake, of St. Louis, MO.; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Tabaka of Canfield. Besides his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Tabaka whom he married May 21, 1988 and brothers, Theodore Tabaka Jr and Lawrence Tabaka. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in Kenny's memory be made through Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home which will be forwarded to the Knights of Columbus at St. Charles or to St. Vincent De Paul, Youngstown Pantry. The Tabaka family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home where they will receive friends, Friday, October 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 3:45 p.m. prayer service.
