Obituary

Vienna: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, at St John the Baptist Orthodox Church, in Campbell, for Kathleen S. Lazor, 57, who fell asleep in the Lord Saturday evening, at her home, with her family at her side following a courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer. Kathy was born April 1, 1953, to Maurice ?Pete? and Katherine (Leshinsky) Garman, in Colorado Springs, Co. She was a 1971 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, and went on to graduate from Youngstown State University, with a BS in Nursing. Besides being a homemaker, she was a Registered Nurse at Warren General Hospital, now St. Joseph?s Hospital, and Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital, and worked in the office of her husband Dr. James Lazor. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, in Campbell, where she was very active in her church and with her church family. She was a chapter, district, and national officer of the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America (FOCA), and chairman of John F. Kennedy High School?s ?Just for Kicks? Charity Auction for 6 years. In 2003, Kathy was honored as one of Trumbull County?s ?Community Stars,? which is sponsored by the American Red Cross, for her contributions to her local community and JFK. Kathy was very well-known, by family and friends, for her cooking and baking, attributes she acquired from her parents. Her one and only weakness was that she never wanted to say no, and would always say yes to any cooking or baking request. Kathy made friends everywhere she went, and there wasn?t a person who met her that didn?t fall in love with her. Her kind nature and bubbly personality made her an asset to any group of friends, and she will be greatly missed, not only to friends in Northeast Ohio, but also friends she made when she summered at her beach home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and her winter home in Naples, Florida. Her courage has been unrivaled and inspiring to so many people. She leaves all to cherish her memory, but especially her parents, Maurice and Katherine Garman; her husband, James A. Lazor, D.O., whom she married on September 16, 1978; her daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Andrew Swindell of Silver Spring, MD, and daughter, Jennifer Lazor of Streetsboro; uncle, Walter Leshinsky of Campbell; aunt, Anne Ramun of Struthers; uncle Wallace Garman of Peoria, Ill.; and aunts Doris Luallen and Florence Johnson, of Galesburg, Ill; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Deborah Bailie of York, Pa; and a niece, Sarah (Carmen) DeMaria, and nephew, Simon Wierczinski. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Michael and Anna Leshinsky, Helen Garman Rice, and Ross Garman; uncles, Michael, Joseph, Andy, and Steve Leshinsky; uncles Pete and John Butchko; uncles Robert, Dale, and Larry Garman; aunts, Mary Leshinsky and Juanita Garman; and her father and mother-in-law, Albert and Susan Bartholomew. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made to the Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree Project or the Perpetual Memorial Fund at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church. The Lazor family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home, and will receive friends Monday evening from 4-8pm, at the funeral home, and from 10-11am, Tuesday morning, at the church.
