Obituary

Wooster: Katherine E. Martauz, (nee Niemczura), 92, formerly of Campbell, who passed away Friday, Aug. 5, at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster, Ohio. Katherine was born Jan. 9, 1919 in Campbell, to the late John and Victoria Zastawney Niemczura and was a 1938 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. She married Stanley Martauz at Sacred Heart Polish National Catholic Church on June 18, 1944. He preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by daughters Janet (Denny) Brayer and Vicki (Greg) Nolfi; grandchildren Brad (Christen) Nolfi, Bob (Nicole) Brayer and Alissa (Chris) Semonin; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Carley and Jacob Johns and two brothers Ted (Donna) Niemczura and Walter (Janice) Niemczura. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Stanley (Infant), Joseph and John. Katherine lived at Smithville-Western Care Center from 2006 to the present, and received wonderful care from the staff. While living at Smithville-Western, Katherine shared a room with Geneva Trogden, their friendship was a blessing to her and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Katherine?¢s name to the Daufuskie Island Community Farm. The donation can be made out to the DICLC, Daufuskie Island Community Leadership Council and mailed to Anita Cohen, 19 Port Passage, Daufuskie Island, South Carolina 29915. The Martauz family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10-11am. A service of Christian burial will follow at St. John Episcopal Church, Wick Ave., Youngtown at 11:30am. Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., where she will be buried with her husband Stanley.
