Obituary

Karen L. VanDyke, 65 Campbell…Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, with Father Michael Swierz officiating, for Karen L. VanDyke, 65, who passed away Saturday morning at her parents home. Karen was born May 10, 1949, in Youngstown, the daughter of Edward and Helen Kondrat Nester. She was raised in Campbell, where she graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1967. Karen worked as an Admission Adviser at the American Institute of Holistic Theology under Dr. Chester Yozwick for 10 years. She continued her passion to educate students about healthy life styles. Her career was devoted to fitness and healthy living, operating an aerobics studio "Body Toning and Aerobics with Karen" for over 30 years. Karen was an accomplished runner, participating and placing in many races throughout the valley. She also enjoyed listening to live music from local bands and playing slot machines at the casinos. Any beach was her favorite place. She attended Victory Christian Center. Karen would encourage anyone reading this to continue a healthy life style, exercising and eating right. She would say, "its' never too late to start." She leaves behind her husband Ed VanDyke; parents Edward and Helen Nester; son Robert Liptak; daughter Jackie Liptak; and her sister, Georgia Rosemond. The VanDyke family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wako Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-8:00 p.m.
