Obituary

Youngstown: Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Wasko Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St John Catholic Church in Campbell, for Josephine G. Bartos, 93, who passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning at Park Vista. Josephine was born on April 22, 1919, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Baytos. After graduating from Chaney High School in 1937, she worked at the Youngstown Club and the General Electric Lamp Plant. On Jan. 29, 1949, Josephine married Stephen S. Bartos, and they moved to Campbell, where they raised their three sons. Those who knew Josephine will remember her as a loving, kind and giving person. She was devoted to her church and her family. She adored her grandchildren and delighted in their accomplishments. She was an excellent cook and baker, and nothing made her happier than to prepare a wonderful meal and have her children and grandchildren gather around the table to enjoy it. Josephine was a member of St. Elizabeth?¢s Church in Campbell until its closing. She took an active part in many church activities and groups, including the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild, the Rosary Society, the Parish Council, the Social Committee and the Prayer Chain. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Kitchen. Josephine will be remembered and missed by her sons and their wives, Lawrence and Barbara of Poland, Richard and Rebecca of Lowellville and Stephen and Virginia of Struthers; her beloved grandchildren, William, Andrew, Brandon, JoAnne and Stephen; her sisters, Helen Baytos, Anne Smolko, Eleanor Valentz and Margaret Baytos; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Mary Welcomer Volovar. Josephine?¢s family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff of Park Vista Nursing 2, who helped care for her during the last years of her life, and also to the amazing Activities Volunteers who always made her smile. The Bartos family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends and family on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The Rite of Committal and burial will be at St. John?¢s Cemetery.
