John P. Vanca, Sr., 88
Campbell………..Funeral services will be held 9:30am Friday at the Wasko Funeral Home and 10am in Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Church for John P. Vanca, Sr., 88, who passed away Monday morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman Campus.
John was born, Nov. 3, 1925 in Youngstown, the son of John and Helen Nalepa Vanca.
He was a graduate of East High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army in Italy during WWII.
John worked at Aeroquip as a Press Operator Forman and retired from the Ohio Turnpike as a Toll Man.
He was a member of the former St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, now a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Church; St. Elizabeth Holy Name Society, Church Choir, Parish Council, he was a church usher, a Eucharistic Minister; and a member of the Struthers VFW Post 3538.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Blanche C. Tracheck, whom he married on May 18, 1946; his children, Jack (Marlene) Vanca of Campbell, Debbie (Tom) Pryor of Poland and Marilyn (Gary) Schrieber of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Therese (Bob) Bednar of Cinn. And Mary Ann (Lou) Adams of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Ray) Orlovsky of Canfield, John (Eleni) Vanca of Campbell, Tom (Nikki) Pryor of Houston, TX, Megan Pryor of Boardman, Jason T. Pryor of Poland, and Brian P. Schrieber and Kaitlyn (fiancé Jonathan Murphy) Schrieber all of Charlotte, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Grayson and Owen Orlovsky, Luke and Alexi Vanca, and Meredith Pryor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ursula Ladd and Dolores Wilcox; and a grandson, Daniel Schrieber.
The Vanca family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends on Thursday evening from 4 to 7pm.
