CAMPBELL - Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 3 p.m., at the Wasko Funeral Home for John Horvath, 93, who passed away Wednesday morning.
John was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Campbell, the son of Jacob and Antoinette Dukovich Horvath.
He was a 1943 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and a lifelong area resident.
He was a World War II Army veteran, having earned a Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart, while serving in all five major battles in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge.
John worked as a schedule clerk in the locomotive department of Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 38 years.
From the early age of 6 years old, during the Great Depression, he dedicated his life to taking care of his family, until his last surviving sibling passed away.
John is survived by Marguerite Horvath; his children, Ken Horvath, Sharron Zook (Frank Rich) Jim (Rosemarie) Horvath, Janice Robbins (Josie Pezel), DJ (Cindy) Horvath and Charlotte (Daniel) Stamp; 12 grandchildren, Kevin Zook, Adam Zook, Jared Zook, Jim Horvath II, Shannon Horvath, James Daniels, Jonathan Daniels, Tara Crocker, Lisa Robbins, Jessica Tedrick, Jeremy Horvath and Andrew Stamp; 15 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Dolly Mastronarde and Gloria Merrell; and one nephew, Robert Horvath.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his three sisters, Catherine, Ann and Millie Horvath; and three brothers, William, Steve and George Horvath.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for the wonderful care given to John.
The Horvath family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Saturday afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, John's family requests donations be made in his name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman OH 44512.
