John M. Andrews, 89 Youngstown…Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in St. Christine Catholic Church for John M. Andrews, 89, formerly of Lockwood Blvd., who passed away Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28th. John was born Jan. 4, 1924 in Youngstown, the son of Sabatino and Assunta DiJoseph D'Andrea, and was a life long area resident. In recent years he made his home with his two daughters and their husbands, where they lovingly cared for him until his death. He was a graduate of East High School and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII, earning the Purple Heart in March of 1944. He was a member of the church; and retired as a Carpenter/Superintendent at B&B Construction in Youngstown. His wife the former Lillian Pavlic whom he married Nov. 19, 1949, passed away March 29, 2004. John leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Gerry (Tim) Brahney and Francie Petrella, both of Manasquan, N.J.; and grandchildren, Marisa (Tony) Muzyka, Derek Brahney, Julian (Christina) Petrella, Jordan Petrella and Adrienne Petrella. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lillian; son-in-law, Nick Petrella; a brother, Adam; and sisters, Carmel, Eva, Lena and Annie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be made to the Hospice House (c/o Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, 44512) in John's name. The Andrews family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive family and friends from 9:30 to 11am on Saturday at St. Christine Catholic Church.
