Obituary

Campbell: Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10am in Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church for John ââ?¬Å?Pappy쳌 Alesafis, 87 who passed away Saturday evening in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus. John was born Dec. 2, 1922 in Campbell, the son of Michael and Evdoxia Milatos Alesafis and was a life long area resident. He was a 1941 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1946, serving during WWII in New Guinea. He was in the 5th Air Force, 22nd Bomb group, 33rd Squadron in the Pacific. He was a member of the church and the Campbell American Legion. John started out self-employed as a car mechanic. Then worked for Gough Motors in Struthers for many years and then retired from Donnel Ford. Pappy loved dancing, bowling, gardening and was an avid fisherman; he was the best husband ever, loving and devoted and he gave his love and time to everyone. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Louise Julius whom he married on September 21, 1948, Louise was #1 and the love of his life; Pappy leaves many nieces and nephews who loved and cherished him as their own father. He also has many friends who loved him as well. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother George Alesafis; sisters, Mary Halkias and Irene Gaitanis and 2 nephews Antonios Antonas and Mike Kmetz. The Alesafis family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Funeral Home and Thursday 9:30-10am at the Church.
