Jan Bogatek, 89
Poland…Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Catholic Church for Jan Bogatek, 89, who passed away Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Bogatek was born October 1, 1923 in Jazlowce, Poland, the son of Frank and Weronica Kobusinska Bogatek.
He was a member of the Polish military, serving his country during WWII, participating in the Battle of Monte Cassino.
Jan worked for LTV Steel as a set-up man in the Cuppling Department, retiring in the 1980's.
He was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Catholic Church and its' Holy Name Society. Jan was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also was an active member of the Polish National Alliance Lodge, #965, serving as their Financial Secretary. He belonged to the Alliance of Poles and the Polish Veteran's Organization, Post #4.
Besides his wife, the former Gizela Dychton, whom he married, June 4, 1949, in England, he leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Theresa (Victor) Eck of New Middletown; a granddaughter, Dr. Heather C. Eck of Casper, Wyoming; a grandson, Carl V. Eck of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a sister, Stella Kafka of Wilmington, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Irene S. Bogatek; a brother and four sisters.
The Bogatek family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive today from 5-7:00 p.m.
