James J. Cappy, Sr. 86
Boardman…Private family services were held Wednesday at the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home in Boardman, officiated by Rev. Philip Rogers, for James J. Cappy, Sr. 86, who passed away at his home Saturday afternoon.
James was born July 11, 1928, in Youngstown, the son of James O. and Wilhelmini Schaeffer Cappy.
He was a 1946 graduate of Ursuline High School and later went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Youngstown College.
James was a real estate broker, commercial appraiser and was the owner of J. Cappy Realty.
He was Past-President of the Youngstown Board of Realtors and was once elected and served as a Boardman Township Trustee.
James was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He was a life time member of the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club and the Rockwell Springs Trout Club.
He was a parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church.
James leaves to cherish his memories, his children, James J. Jr. (Gloria) Cappy of Raleigh, NC, John M. (Connie) Cappy of Hilton Head, SC, Joseph E. Cappy of Boardman, Deborah (Douglas) Frey of Strongsville, and Denise (Richard) Juvancic of Battle Creek Michigan; and his six grandchildren.
His wife, the former, Sally J. Sloan, whom he married on May 6, 1949, passed away July 27, 2007.
Besides his wife, Sally, James was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Darla Jean Cappy.
The Cappy family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home.
