Obituary

An hour of calling will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, October 24, 2016, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, celebrated by Father Edward Neroda, for Irene (Sznajkart) Jacobson, 77, who passed away on October 18, 2016 at her residence. Irene was born in Sens, France on December 4, 1938 a daughter of Stanley and Rose (Sokolowski) Sznajkart. Irene spent most of her childhood in Poland, and then came to the United States in 1958. She married her loving husband, Joseph Jacobson, on June 13, 1964 with whom she spent 52 years. Irene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Irene worked at Penn Ohio and Alexander Draperies where she was a talented seamstress.  She spent time as a factory worker at Impex Plastics. Irene then worked as a candy maker for 28 years at Geordan Candy and later at Giannios Candy where she retired from in 2008. She enjoyed working with the Giannios family and her co workers. Irene loved to cook traditional Polish meals and bake wonderful cookies and pies. Taking pride in her home was very important to her and she always made you feel welcomed with food and conversation. Taking care of her vegetable and flower garden were also her passion. Irene was one of the most caring and humble people you could meet. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Irene was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. Besides her husband, Irene is survived by her sons David John (Jackie) Jacobson of Poland and Daniel Joseph Jacobson of Boardman; her grandchildren, Zachary, Jenna and Katie Jacobson; her brother, Pete (Theresa) Schneikart of Boardman and her niece Melanie Schneikart. Irene was preceded in death by her parents. The family has entrusted the care of Irene to the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home.
