Obituary

Canfield…Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, with Father David Shortt officiating, for Irene A. Cap, 81, who passed away Sunday. Irene was born January 18, 1932, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Mary Gaydosh Cap. She was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, where she was Class President, a member of the school choir and volunteered for several service organizations. Irene was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell, retiring after 34 years of service. She was a devoted Catholic and an active member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, where she helped with weekly bingo and the Church's Friday fish frys. Irene was an honorary life member of the Communications Workers of America. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Irene leaves to cherish her memory, her brother, George (Nancy) Cap of Canfield; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Semian of Middlefield, Mrs. Margaret (Robert) Kish of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Mrs. Dorothy (Maron) Fares of Youngstown and Mrs. Jean (Eugene) Panozzo of University Heights; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents he was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Bohn; two brothers, John and Mike Cap; and a great niece, Jessica Ritz. The Cap family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Thursday from 5-8:00 p.m.
