CAMPBELL - Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, with Fr. Steve Denas officiating, for Irene (Pontikos) Alexander, 85, who passed away Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Irene was born May 4, 1929, in Kalymnos, Greece, the daughter of Nick and Eleni Pontikos. She was employed for many years at Master Tuxedo in Youngstown. Upon retirement, she worked at Belleria Pizza in Campbell, the family business. Irene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Despie (Tony) Koulianos; a son, Perry (Georgia) Alexander; grandchildren Yianni Koulianos and Yianni and Maria Alexander; a brother, Mike Pontikos of Columbus; a sister, Kaliope Trikilis of Greece; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Alexander, who passed away Nov. 5, 1999; her son, Nicholas Alexander; and brothers John and Antonio Pontikos. The Alexander family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.
