Obituary

Youngstown: Funeral services will be held 12noon Thursday at Rising Star Baptist Church, with Pastor Kenneth Donaldson and Pastor Rojas, officiating for Helen Rentas Santiago, 50, who passed away Friday afternoon. Helen was born Oct. 16, 1961 in Youngstown, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret Solis Rentas. She was a 1979 graduate of East High School. Helen retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 29 years and served as secretary at the Rising Star Baptist Church, working under Pastor Bolds, where she was a faithful member. She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, bowling and played short stop when she played softball. Helen was a devoted daughter, she loved her family unconditionally and loved her great nieces and nephews. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother and step-father Margaret and Irving Caminero; her father Ralph Rentas, Sr.; one brother Ralph Rentas, Jr.; two sisters, Judy Dean and Evelyn Miranda; best friend, Deaconess Blonda Pointdexter; special friend Sirlo Santiago, Jr.; an aunt Rosalie Garcia; godchildren, Billy, Sherri, Erica and Randall Ford; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family requests that monetary donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of America P.O. Box 418629, Boston, MA., 02241-8629. The Rentas-Santiago family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-9pm at the funeral home and again on Thursday morning from 11am to 12noon at the church.
