Helen M. (Kupiec) Mijavec, 93 NEW CASTLE, PA. - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Parish in Pulaski, Pa., for Helen M. (Kupiec) Mijavec, 93, formerly of Pulaski, who passed away Wednesday evening, Sept. 21 at the Avalon in New Castle. Helen was born, July 28, 1923, in Youngstown, the daughter of Stanley and Rose Michno Kupiec. She was a seamstress at the Villa Maria Convent, sewing for the sisters and also worked at Moyer Pant Factory. Helen was a member of the church, and the Christian Women Organization. She enjoyed making soup for the shut-ins and volunteered at funeral dinners. She loved to travel and decorate her yard. She enjoyed cutting grass, gardening and playing the harmonica. Helen loved playing bingo and going on bus trips. Her husband, John Mijavec, whom she married June 29, 1946, passed away Dec. 13, 2005. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her children, Geraldine (Robert) Lennox of Pulaski, Rosanne (Richard) Whiting of Mt. Jackson, Pa. and Albert (Debrah) Mijavec of New Castle; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Miklus of Lady Lake, Fla.; and one brother, Henry Kupiec of Antioch, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her son, Ronald Mijavec; five brothers, Frank, John, Joe, Stanley and Walter Kupiec; her sister, Stella Linden; and her great-granddaughter, Hannah Quinn. The Mijavec family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive family and friends on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home; and again Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
