Helen C. Mazias, 89 Campbell……….Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Wednesday at the Wasko Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Church for, Helen C. Mazias, 89, who passed away peacefully Sunday Jan. 5, 2014. Helen was born, March 6, 1924 in Youngstown the daughter of Frank and Apolina Kopacz Mazias and was a life long Campbell resident. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Joseph the Provider Church and had a special devotion to the Infant Jesus. Helen graduated from Campbell Memorial High School and then began her career as a beautician. She then pursued and received a Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Education. Her teaching career in Youngstown City Schools spanned 28 years. Helen enjoyed and took great pride in landscaping and manicuring her yard. She was a sports enthusiast who loved attending sporting events of her family members. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews whom she embraced as her own. She will be sadly missed and remembered lovingly by her nieces and nephews; Donna (John) Messina, John (Carolyn) Lyda, JoAnn (Rocco) Yeropoli, Joseph (Linda) Mazias, Bernadine (Richard) Becker and John (Sharon) Mazias; a sister-in-law, Mary Mazias; 26 great nieces and nephews; and 29 great-great nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Genevieve Lyda; brothers, John Mazias, Michael Mazias and Joseph Mazias; a nephew Francis Lyda; and a niece Brenda (Lyda) Wyman. The Mazias family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am.
