Obituary

Helen Y. Hamrock, 71 Boardman………………Funeral services will be held 10am Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Gerald M. DeLucia, for Helen Y. Hamrock, 71 who passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening in St. Elizabeth Health Center. Helen was born Sept. 16, 1941 in Youngstown, the daughter of Frank and Mary Huncik Yaklich and was a life long area resident. She was a 1959 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. After high school, she worked in the general offices of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. and Contempo Vans. She also worked as an accountant with the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority until her retirement in 2007. Helen was a very active member of the church; a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Garden Club. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her food and pastries with her family and friends; she enjoyed traveling and was an avid gardener. Her husband, Joseph W. Hamrock, Jr., whom she married Sept. 12, 1964, passed away Nov. 6, 1995. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Dr. David J. Hamrock of Beachwood; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Timothy Kopcash of Boardman; three cousins Stanley (Nancy) Bednarczyk of Cortland, William Huncik and George Huncik both of Pulaski, Pa.; two nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Joseph. The Hamrock family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home and again on Thursday morning from 9-10am at church.
