Calling hours will be held Friday July 22, 2016, from 9:00am-9:50am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church for Helen S. Baker, 92, who passed away on July 17, 2016.
Helen was born December 21, 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Duncko Sarisky.
Helen graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and then worked at General Electric. She was a member of St. Matthias Church. She enjoyed her family, as well as, traveling, gambling, cooking and gardening. Helen belonged to several clubs including Red Hats and Sokols.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories several nieces (that were her caregivers) Frances Martin, JoJo Yosten, Terry Bury, Trisha Lyons, and Jodi Pacella; she also leaves Lana Philips and Carol DeFiore and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Baker, a sister, Theresa Pavlich; brothers John, Joseph, Stephen and Frank Sarisky; nieces Barbara Bury, Georgianne Navarro; nephews Ed Sarisky, Mark Martin and Jason Navarro; and her beloved dog Whiskers.
Helen's family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Paisley House, and also to the staff at Senior Independence Hospice for their care of Helen during her time of need.
The Baker family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Paisley House or to Senior Independence Hospice in Helen's name.
The family has entrusted Helen's care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
