Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN –A celebration of life will be held at noon on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home with Deacon Sam DiFrancesco officiating for Gilbert Frank "Choo -Cho" Gaal, 67, who passed away early Thursday morning. Gilbert was born January 31, 1947 in Youngstown, a son of the late Geza and Irene Szalma Gaal. He worked as a pipefitter for GE, retiring after 35 years. "Choo-Cho," a Lionel train collector, was passionate about cars. He was the proud owner of a 1947 Dodge Coupe and enjoyed building cars. He was a member for 35 years of the Youngstown Rod and Custom Car Club, and would help the car club collect money for Akron Children's Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, the former Darlene Radovich, whom he married August 8, 1970, his son Joseph (Jennifer) Gaal of Boardman; three grandchildren Macenzee, Eric, and Danica Gaal; his mother-in-law Margaret Radovich; his sister-in-law JoAnn (Dan) Coyne; his niece Rebecca (Richard) Clinton; and his best friend Ron (Lenore) Freedy, all of Boardman. The Gaal family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, where they will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday and also one hour prior to the service, at 11:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Akron Children's Mahoning Valley, ATTN: Foundation 6505 Market St. Building C Boardman, OH 44512.
