YOUNGSTOWN – A private funeral service will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at St. John's Cemetery for George Palencar, 89 who passed away early Tuesday morning. George was born January 29, 1924 and was the son of George and Sophia Markovich Palencar. George was employed by Truscon and LTV Steel for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading, coin and stamp collecting and helping care for the family pet "Peanut". George also enjoyed spending as much time as he was able to with his grandson that he adored and considered him as his pride and joy. He was a member of the United States Army from 1944 to 1949. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife, the former Cecelia Marchesano whom he married on June 16, 1951, and a son, George Michael Palencar. George leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Anita (John) Whiteley of Hubbard, with whom he made his home. Also, a grandson, John J. (Heather) Whiteley of Strongsville; brother-in-law, Stanley Kadreff of Youngstown; nephew, Michele Kadreff of Youngstown and niece, Anna Marie Freitch of Virginia. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of 3NW and MICU at Northside Medical Center for the kindness and care which George received. Entombment will take place at St. John's Cemetery. The Palencar family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home.
